Chief Executive Rachel stars on SBLTV
New Marches Local Enterprise Partnership chief executive Rachel Laver was interviewed about her role for the latest edition of Shropshire business TV programme SBLTV.
Rachel spoke about some of the challenges – and opportunities – facing businesses across the Marches as well as the future of the LEP, which is currently part of a Government review.
She also told interviewer Carl Jones about some of the work the LEP has helped fund across the region and the way the region is punching above its weight in areas such as solar power and the use of anaerobic digesters to generate sustainable energy.
Rachel said that confidence within the business community was also high, despite the impact of Covid over the past two years.
“There is a lot of optimism actually. Shropshire had the highest level of business inquiries of anywhere in the country last year, so people recognise that Shropshire is a really good place to come and work.”
She also discussed the future of the LEP and again urged the government to make the results of its review known as quickly as possible.
“It’s frustrating for us because it is damaging our relationships with our stakeholders. Where we could be really helping business and communities come out of the pandemic successfully we are just being stymied at the moment by that uncertainty.”
